The
Unity Burbank Center for Spiritual Awareness was formerly
known as
Unity Church of Burbank and North
Hollywood. The first service was held over
60 years ago. Founded by Doctors Joseph and Mildred Haggerty on
December 5, 1946, our church was dedicated on the same day by the
co-founder of the Unity movement, Charles Fillmore.
Over the years we've called many places "home"-worshipping in
churches, hotel banquet rooms, public buildings and even the park.
In 1999, we purchased our present church home in Burbank.

We
encourage you to explore and apply Unity teachings based on
your own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual
understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and
meditation. The five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief
system are:
|
1)
God is the source and creator of all. There is no
other enduring power. God is good and present
everywhere.
2)
We are spiritual beings, created in God's image. The
spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all
people are inherently good.
3)
We create our life experiences through our way of
thinking.
4)
There is power in affirmative prayer, which we
believe increases our connection to God.
5)
Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not
enough. We must live them.

of God's glorious world.
We are a living, breathing example of the Unity song-- "Weave Us
Together. Weave, weave, weave us together. Weave us together in
Unity and Love".
We are singular in our belief that there is only one power and
presence in the universe- and that is God.
Whether you are looking for a permanent church home or an
occasional safe sanctuary where your spiritual self can soar; we
woud love to have you join us one Sunday.

I let go of who I am, I become who I might be." -Lao
